                        Summer is continuing

This summer has started to be out to be very hot. Remember to take water when you go flying. Also while you are climbing check your temperatures if the aircraft is running hot, please level off for a while and then continue to climb or climb at a higher airspeed to keep the temps cooler. Remember these are Aircooled engines and when the temp gets over 100F there is very little effective cooling. Temperatures do decrease with altitude so the higher the cooler temperature the decrease per 1000 FT is 2C .

Some rules about BIG Bear. Only 2 people are allowed to go in a Cessna 172 , Piper Warrior to Big bar The only planes that are allowed to go to Big Bear in the summer with 4 people and reduced fuel depending on weight and balance is the Piper Archer.

FOR ALL NEW STUDENTS REGULATIONS REQUIRE THAT BEFORE YOU START YOUR FLIGHT TRAINING YOU BRING IN A BIRTH  CERTIFICATE AND PICTURE I.D. OR VALID PASSPORT. The instructor has to verify the information and make an entry in your logbook, so please bring them in. Midfield has to keep copy of this info.

Remember with the heat the density altitudes are much higher and you need to lean the mixture even while taxing to the run-up area to prevent sparkplug fouling.

You have to have a sign off from your CFI every 90 days . Please keep track of these things the insurance is null and void when you do not have these sign offs and you are flying.

Remember if you break the plane the deductable is $2500.00 You can get insurance for this from Avemco

McDonald’s once created bubblegum-flavored broccoli.

McDonald’s is always introducing new items for their loyal customers. And obviously, some are more successful than others. But their bubblegum-flavored broccoli, which the fast-food chain developed in 2014 as a tastier version of the leafy green for children, was a complete failure. McDonald’s CEO Don Thompson admitted that kids were confused by the taste.

July Newsletter 2020

I hope July is going to be a awesome month  for everyone.  We have all endured a bad crappy 3 months. We have the 4th of July coming up. I have found out that Brewster Park is going to shoot off fireworks but you can not go to the  park and watch. You have to watch from your car and can listen to music on FM 106.5 fox radio station.  For Victorville fair grounds  same rules apply. You have to watch from your car. Radio music FM 100.7 No restrooms no vendors. What a different world we live in now.

Did you know

The hottest chili pepper in the world is so hot it could kill you.

The “weapons-grade” Dragons breath chili pepper is so hot it’s downright deadly. If you ate one, it could potentially cause a type of anaphylactic shock, burning the airways and closing them up.

“I’ve tried it on the tip of my tongue and it just burned and burned” said Mike Smith, the hobby grower who invented the Dragons Breath along with scientists from Nottingham university. So why make such an impractical pepper? As it turns out, the chili was initially developed to be used in medical treatment as an anesthetic that can numb the skin.

Mornings are a better time to fly. Especially for our solo pilots. As in the afternoon it seems like the winds like to kick up.

We have hangers for rent and for sale inquire at Midfield.

We will have a ground school class if I can get enough interest. It would be the 3rd or 4th weekend in July. Friday 6 to 9pm  Sat and  Sun 8 to 5. Please call Debbie at Midfield and let her know if you would like to attend the class.

Per insurance requirement there is No landings on dirt strips or dry lake beds., or any airports less than 3000ft runway.

Deductibles are as follows on planes. $1000.00 on reg planes, on high performance planes and the champ its $2500.00

Make sure you get your belongings out of the planes. Also please clean your up your trash, water bottles, ect out of the planes.

Check notams before flying . They have been doing runway work.

Be sure you put on the pitot covers . The bugs love that area and can plug the hole.

              Summer has arrived

This summer has started to be very hot. Remember to take water when you go flying. Also while you are climbing check your oil temperature. If the aircraft is running hot you should level off for a while and then continue to climb or climb at a higher airspeed to keep temps cooler. Remember these are air cooled engines and when the temp gets over a 100F there is very little effective cooling.

Always keep density altitude in mind!!!

Santa Clause was given an official pilots’s license in 1927

When Santa Claus makes his trip around the world on Christmas Eve, you can rest assured that he’s legally allowed to drive his sleigh—at least in the United States. In 1927, the jolly man in the red suit was given a pilot’s license from the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Aeronautics William P. MacCracken

Through the dried berries resemble peppercorns, the flavor profile invokes the flavor of warming spices like cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Commonly spotted in Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American cuisines, allspice is a versatile ingredient that has a presence on fine-dining and ethnic independent menus as it’s in the inception stage.
